My chief cheerleader leapt into the Stratosphere today, a date known to be unlucky. It was definitely that for me , but not for Dickens, who died this morning of congestive heart -- it was necessary to put him to sleep at the closest Veterinary clinic after a night of terrible suffering for both of us.
I only had this Bavare terrier as a rescue for 6 years and got him when he was 5-ish (one never quite credits rescue orgs knowing or revealing the exact ages of their charges) but it was far too short a life, whatever. He came with a diagnosis of epilepsy ( a hard sell to potential fur-ever homes) but which was practically cured using CBD drops on his daily dinners. Other than that , he was filled with energy (love/hate relation with squirrels especially.) He liked to go on errands, walks... and just ' BE'. As a 24/7 roomie with his own independent little personality, he'll be missed--- just like all the rest of my 'pack' that a day doesn't go by that at least one of them is in the forefront of memory. He was the seventh canine 'rescue' in the last 4o years or so (including my deceased mother's dog, Sandy). I hope 'The Magnificent Seven' will send along at least one more. ( There is no rivalry among 'angels'...)
