The Green Mile Nov.26, 2021
So you've read the novel once for coherence of plot . You've gone over it again for character and location details . You've gone over again for grammar, not totally dependent on Word which hyphenates names instead of bouncing to a new line. You've gone over again for Headings and spacing . You've inserted whatever images and pictures . The occasional content tweak gets you up in the morning, and you have to insert that , throwing all your 'special' spacing and pagination out of whack. If you have a glossary, you may have to squeeze in a reference or two. You may still be working on your cover art.
But the end is looming in sight , you're just not quite there yet . Unfortunately you're so sick of the thing at this point that knowing you have to reformat for e-pub with KDP or paperback versions requires even more going over , before you finally approve . Then you have to get an author's proof and go over again.
Never does the 'Green Mile ' seem so long , and that bottle you're saving to crack open to celebrate the final published edition is getting colder by the minute...
You've come too far and spent way too much time on the project to quit now !
