So now the BIG STEP is to upload your MS to KDP. I usually take my word document and try it out as a PDF doc, especially if there are some graphic pages , because PDF's can distort pages a bit sometimes.

I suggest you go through your whole document first as a PDF BEFORE uploading either as a word, PDF or whatever document to KDP 'launch preview', just to check for any problems. Then you can go back to the word document, rectify, try the PDF route again to see if it turned out properly. As you read through, make note of names Hyphenated at the end of a sentence , same thing with quotation or punctuation that might have slipped to the next line... that sort of thing. When there's nothing else to find, then you're ready to upload .

NEW: apparently KDP now has the facility to not just link your e-book to a paperback: it can now create the e-book at the same time as the paperback which would save a lot of time and effort if it can do it properly. I will be interested to see how and IF that works, because I know I had to tweak certain things for e-book format and I have a feeling this new programming may be too good to be true. More on that , anon...
