Image Content October 26
It's probably wise not to include too many images in a work of fiction, for both the print aspects (which may translate into additional costs dependent on colours , layers etc etc) and the amount of time to create the image.
However...Maps may be a necessity at the beginning of your story to acquaint the reader with the various locales of the action. Sometimes it is necessary to format an image that carries clues to the plot. Cover art can take a great deal of time and revisions to suit the content . In my own current case, my requirements evolved into including 3 images .
Don't go overboard on imaging is the takeaway here. If you just want to write and leave it all up to the reader's imagination, that 's easiest but then you've got to put a lot into descriptive passages so they see with the mind what can perhaps more easily be seen with the eye i.e. an image --- a picture is sometimes worth a thousand words ( a thousand words less than the author need write :) You decide.
