In the last post I mentioned creating your own images, but I've had to research how to convert these to acceptable E-pub type formats. I thought it would just be as simple as uploading a pic onto wix.com as an example. Not, in fact ! That has taken some time to learn, I can assure you, but here are a couple of sites I've found helpful to the process, but there are lots more:
In general, remember these tips:
-you will have to convert your image to something like jpg or png for certain of the e-pub formats.
-although printing on paper can be expensive depending on colour and number of inks required, your on-line image should be striking but have a black and white sample available too just in case .
-you need to resize for clarity and also for expense as a book over a certain size may incur some penalities on Amazon/Kindle or elsewhere--- see suggestions in the article I mention above.
-remember the cover art is the first thing a reader sees. You know what they say about a first impression taking all of 10 seconds or less! Make sure the picture you choose encapsulates something about the story; invites the reader in and encourages sneak peeks. The image can't be offsetting in any way. You chose the 'thing'---if it appealed to you, hopefully it will to potential readers too.
