Picking up tips out of the air

OK, I don't recommend wasting too much time on TV shows like women-spouting-their-own-views-on-mostly-inane-topics, but I watched one the other day and an authoress mentioned the web site: Wattpad Studio, so I decided to check it out, though I'm always wary of the legitimacy of sites that promise a stairway to publishing heaven and depend on popularity in numbers of readers of your story before aiding you in the climb.
It may sound logical, but another bogus site I almost fell into, ended up being a thinly disguised vanity press. Just about anybody who submitted to their anthologies was guaranteed to be published BUT they wouldn't publish unless they got a minimum of 500 or so orders , and of course that meant they wanted you, as an author, like a tupperware rep, to get all your friends and family to order at least 100 books etc etc .
If you went on that particular site, it was pretty obvious fairly quickly what the racket was. So, when I scanned Wattpad wasn't sure about site-legitimacy there either, but to be honest did not dwell on it or do enough research in detail so I can't actually say with any clarity what or how it's offering anything to an author, although of course they have examples of successful users to egg on hopefuls. So, use caution but determine for yourself by viewing the site:
https://www.wattpad.com/writers/opportunities/studios/
but caveat emptor---all that glitters is not (always) sold .
