Higher Purpose

Yes, a writer's main raison d'etre is to educate, entertain, enlighten. Reimbursement for one's efforts may or may not be paramount depending on economic standing. But, if at all possible, here's a thought about being charitable or giving back if one can. Why not tithe or take a percent of each payment ---if you're lucky enough to actually sell something and can afford to do it --and pay it forward to a preferred cause of choice. This might be a retirement home for impoverished writers, a food bank (for impoverished writers) or a rehab centre for addicted writers :) Seriously, though ! Think of the added satisfaction of not only producing a piece but being able to support someone, some mission, or some organization as well. It may not be much , or it could be a bit more substantial, but either way, both an incentive and bi-product perhaps, of good writing .
